Principal Harpist of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Marguerite Lynn Williams has performed
extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra member. She has appeared as a featured performer and lecturer at American Harp Society conventions and the World Harp Congress. An experienced orchestra musician, Williams has appeared with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, San Diego Symphony, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Toronto Symphony. She performed as substitute Principal Harp for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra during the 2008–2009 season. She was previously Principal Harp of the New World Symphony, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, New Philharmonic Orchestra, DuPage Opera Orchestra and Colorado Music Festival. Williams is a founding member of the Chicago Harp Quartet, International Chamber Artists and Lyrica Trio. Williams attended the Eastman School of Music, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree and Performer’s Certificate studying with Kathleen Bride. She then attended Roosevelt University to study with Sarah Bullen, where she received a Master’s Degree in Orchestral Studies. Williams is now head of the Harp Department at Roosevelt University and maintains a private harp studio in Chicago. |
