Zan Boag is the publisher and editor in chief of the international newsstand magazine New Philosopher, publisher and editorial director of ad-free women’s magazine Womankind, principal of organic fair-trade tea merchant Poet Tea, and director of the organic tea houses/bookstores Poet Store.

Boag has lived and worked in Australia, Argentina, France, Guatemala and Spain and holds postgraduate qualifications in applied finance, financial planning, management and environmental science. In 2006, he was awarded an Australian Research Council scholarship for a PhD in environmental science.

New Philosopher and Womankind are distributed in more than 15,000 outlets internationally. In 2015, New Philosopher was listed by The New York Post as one of the top “magazines to get you thinking,” and Womankind was selected by The Library Journal as one of the best magazines in the US.

In 2017, Boag serves as the judge for the Editorial Category of the Association of Illustrators’ World Illustration Awards.

As an ethics coordinator with Primary Ethics, which delivers ethics programs to students across Australia, Boag helps promote children’s critical-thinking skills.

He speaks regularly on philosophy, the media and happiness, and in 2016 he was an international delegate at the International Economics of Happiness Conference in South Korea.
